about
This came about with some sentimental minor chords in C sharp, giving the feeling of a cool breeze blowing on a warm ride.
We did two versions of this, one mellow and one heavy, we decided on the mellow version as it had more feel and suited the song. It ended up somewhere in between, with Blondie sitting under the bridge of sighs.
Dave (Spiff) Hopkins
Flowers has a sentimental place in my heart. When Dave and I were writing the music, I was wanting the heart strings to be tugged – he played a few chords and then got that exact feel and sound, and I was able to weave in the lyrics I hoped to. It’s about allowing yourself to let go. Not of bad things – but good things. To take a chance and make a change, no matter how scary it feels. These lyrics are how I felt when I left the Caribbean during covid to come to Australia… and be with David. I loved my life there, but I left. ‘As the river flows, let it go, yesterday its story told.’
Fiona Horne
lyrics
I respectfully ask, oh flower divine
To reveal the answer to this question of mine
Circle of earth is revealing
Scenes of my future being
As the river flows, let it go
Yesterday, its story told
I go forth wise and bold, let it go
Another day is to unfold
Begone, begone, begone from me
I cast away and bury deep
That which works no longer for me
With harm to none So Mote It Be
As the river flows, let it go
Yesterday, its story told
I go forth wise and bold, let it go
Another day is to unfold
I respectfully ask, oh flower divine
To reveal the answer to this question of mine
Circle of earth is revealing
Scenes of my future being
As the river flows, let it go
Yesterday, its story told
I go forth wise and bold, let it go
Another day is to unfold
